In the end the right controls the media because big money owns the media. The media use to be somewhat on the left but really hasn't been in at least 25 years!

interesting question. in the best of situations, control of media is a curious -- perhaps even ironic -- balance of wealthy (i.e., right-leaning) owners on the one side and working journalists (i.e., left-leaning) on the other.
i see this relationship, over the long run, as a positive way for a society to be publicly informed so that problems can be recognized and then resolved.
yes, there are many, many problems, shortcomings, abuses, and so on with this system. but, there is no better way yet invented for holding people responsible -- in public, so that everybody can see.
oh, i'm not speaking against bloggers and other web-based news and opinion.
i do want to draw attention, though, to the basic importance of publicly available information. there is no substitute for knowing that a widespread and large number of people know that information has been put out publicly.
for example, without the mainstream media, george w. bush's incredible policy of secrecy would not be in the process of being stopped. the bloggers have helped a lot, thank goodness, but it is through the publicly available media that we move forward.
good luck!

Why the right of course; the media is controlled by capital and only the capitalists have that. The left only has socialism and it never has the money to even feed it's self. On top of that the left [ultimately Marxism] believes in using violent 'revolution' to get it's way. Not my idea of happy times.

Generally large corporation’s control the media and if you want to call them right wing go ahead but plenty of large corporations have leftist leanings as well.
The trouble is not the media ownership but the journalists. Journalism schools are completely filled with leftist nitwits trying to save the world and be the next Woodward and Bernstein. The bias in the news reporting comes from these useful idiots who refuse to report just the facts of a story and feel compelled to insert their subtle liberal bias.

There is a fact-based news program, DemocracyNow! with Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez. The format is "pundit-free". DemocracyNow! is also on Pacifica radio stations.
