I am finishing up my MA in International Relations and want to get my PhD in political science. I'm in the NYC area now, but places like Columbia and NYU just dont seem right for me. I've also looked at UCLA, U of Chicago, Cornell, Northwestern, etc and I just don't know how accepting they are of alternative views. I don't want to be the freak on campus. I went to Purdue to get my BA, so it doesn't have to be a super conservative school, just a "normal" campus. So far I thought of Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, and George Washington....but I need a lot more than that! Thanks for your help

I would like a top tier or close to that school, but I would prefer a moderate/conservative environment and I dont think i'd find that at Berkeley, but thanks.

NYU and COlumbia are definitely on the "liberal" end of the scale, but I think you are going to have a tough time finding a "conservative" university in the Northeast or California. Why not consider a school in the "conservative" red states part of the country. Baylor, Brigham Young, Sotuhern Methodist?

I'm pretty sure the GWU and the other schools you mention are not going to be your cup of tea if you are "conservative."

I wonder why that is that so many schools are "Liberal" - maybe there's a synonym for "liberal" that describes these schools.

Do you want top tier? How about Harvard, Yale or Princeton. Or would UC Berkley, U of T, and/or Boston University interest you?

Or go overseas to the UK...there's Oxford which, is Boston University's Brit counterpart. I was invited to attend two semesters @ Oxford and found Europe can open minds, change perspectives and enhance practical professional skills with its varied and rich cultural environment. I especially enjoyed the lager as well.

Most of my education was spent in private boarding schools, varying between Europe and the US and comparably, Boston U and Oxford have a lot in common.
