It probably needs to be adjusted. Often a new belt will stretch out a little bit after installation. Snugging it up should take care of the problem. DO NOT use any of that belt spray stuff.

Look at Tomkat and Garacaius's Answer above as both offer good advice. If the belt is overtightened there is a chance that it could snap (in cold weather especially) rather than stretch.
Go back to the garage and make certain that the belt is properly adjusted and don't let them use any silicon based 'belt dressing' on the belt to sort it.

with the engine off - OFF
take an old bar of soap and rub it on the sides of the belt
- bump the starter
and do it again with the engine off - should be an easy trick to fix

If its a new belt, it hasnt been adjusted right, It needs more tension. Either your power stearing pump or alternator has the adjusment bracket, unless it has a seperate tensioner pully.

it's either glazed or a little too loose. Try tightning it.
