I think it's completely natural to this, although we shouldn't be judging people too easily or too harshly.
We wouldn't last very long as people if we didn't have the natural instinct to evaluate people based on their behaviors toward us, would we?

I would think that it originated with religion. Most mainstream religions have some criteria for good and bad and people by association are deemed so by doing whats considered bad. The bible says that humans are inherently evil. But it also says Hate the sin not the sinner. (not part of the text I typically see followed [sadly])

Because one of the ways you define someone is by their actions. Killing someone means you are bad, but saving a life means you are good.

actually, and psychologically speaking there is like a sliderule, that good is on one side and bad is on the other side (like 1-10) and anything in-between is 2-9. It's just easier to say good or bad.

Hi Sanna, People who commit crimes,murder,rape,and child abusers are bad people who need to be lock up in prison. A person who help others in need,a loving,and caring person.A person who cares about what is going on in this world. This is a good person.

because all human life is about duality. so one has to define itself as good or bad. as you can see in movies, there is always a bad guy and a good guy
