I own two keyboards. One is 49 key and the other is 61 key. I was considering an 88 key, but I don't have the space.

Can I learn music on either keyboard?

Yes, you'll just have less octaves to work with. If you use it with some music software however, you can import it into the software using a midi cable then change it around or make it higher or lower.

Just to learn on, any size keyboard is good.

There are 12 keys per octave including sharps and flats. 49 keys gives you 4 octaves and a couple of keys to spare. Most music will fit into that span. 61 keys will give you 5 octaves and most likely enough range for anything you maw want to do. 88 keys is just to impress the girls with your ability to carry the thing.

The size of the keys is more important than the number. Look at an actual piano and get a feel for the spacing and size of the keys. If your keyboards have small keys you will never learn to play well with them. The 66 if they are normal size should do well.

the difference is this: they have different numbers of keys. The 88 key digital keyboard has 27 more keys than the 61 key one, which in turn has 12 more than the 49... It's all in the math.

if yer just learning, any amount of keys is okay. 61 is the general standard, but less or more would be fine.
