Pretty much the same that you've eaten until now. The baby in the first three months will get what it needs from the same amount of food that you've been taking unitl now. But be careful what that amount includes. Definitely avoid junk food, it just gives you calories and no nutrition. Eat the basic things, imagine what people ate hunderds of years ago when there were no chemicals, additives, artificial colorings, sugar and the like in their daily diet and try to eat more of that: whole wheat products, dairy products, meat, eggs and fish, fruits and vegetables. Take vitamins with folic acid in them - very important for the brain and nervous system development of your child. And even if you get sick often and throuw up, don't worry unless the condition is severe - the baby will always get what it needs from whatever stays long enough in your stomach. :-)

First, prenatal vitamins should be taken as soon as you are planning for pregnancy. Then eat the same type of food. Avoid Alcohol and smoking. Avoid fish that contains high level of Mercury. Limit your amount of eating fish (twice a week is okay).
If you have heartburn due to the morning sickness, avoid some sour and hot food that can make the heartburn worse. You will also crave certain kind of food. If they aren't harmful as i mention above, you can eat. Eat more vegetables and fruits which can help you relese constipation. Doctors will advise you that you can eat the same as you are eating before you get pregnant but you can avoid fish with high mercury level and sour and hot food in advance for good.

Folic acid is a must- dark green leafy vegetables- it helps prevent birth defects of the brain and spinal cord such as neural tube defects (NTDs), when taken very early in pregnancy.
Avoid foods like
Soft white cheeses eg. Ricotta, brie, camembert, blue vein and fetta,
Pate
Unpasturised dairy products
Cold meats
Dried/fermented sausages
Raw sea foods eg. Oysters, sashimi
Smoked seafood (canned is okay)
Pre packed and prepared salads
Soft serve ice-cream
these all increase the risk of bacteria called Listeria, which can be harmful to ur baby in the early stages of pregnancy

honey there is no perfect answer to this question our and our babies needs are all very different.
you should not cut anything out of your diet (except booz and drugs of course)
i am a personal trainer and nutritionest and i have a very healthy diet that consists of what i call clean food (fruit, veg, chicken, fish ect) and rarley eat out of a packet/can and never ever deep fry or add sault. however for the first 4-5 months of both my pregnancies i liturally had to start my day off with a big plate of salty deep fried chips or i'd be sick all day and all night infact basically i couldn't eat any of my normal "clean food" untill i was aruond 5-5 and a half months pregnent (and i hated every minute of it).
Changing your diet could infact do you and your baby harm because of our ever changing blood sugar levels, by cutting out say your fats, salts, sugar copletely can lead to diabetes during pregnancy.
Your body will tell you what's best for you and your babies health. you can slowley cut down the amount of refined surgar (but steer clear from diet foods they are very harmfull to your baby and artifitial sweeteners desrtoy your teeth).
i would advise you cut down on your salt intake (not cut it out all together) though, too much salt stops your bodys ability to absorb calcium, meaning your baby will extract the calcium he/she needs from your teeth and bones and you can feel your bones start to ach from weakness snd even have your teeth fall out.
last but not least up the protine for your babies muscke and brain development
don't stop yourself having something if you really crave it to the point where it drives you mad your body will crave a particular food not for the taste but what's in it for example if you crave citrus fruit your body is in need of vitamin c or bananas mean your body needs potassium (unless it's booz or drugs) listen to your body and learn the differance between a craving (a gotta have nagging in the back of your head you just cant rid off some women get quite nasty with cravings when pregnent) and a want is usually just something you've seen and wouldn't mind having but you can forget about it whithout "having" to have it
enjoy your pregnency and when in doubt talk to your midwife (and get a couple of oppinions) many midwifes have not yet been pregnant and don't actually know the feeling

If you can actually keep down any food in the first trimester then i suggest you eat lots of vegtables that contain folic acid (helps the growing baby tremendously in the first stages).

I say eat anything that you can actually keep down. If you can eat and not throw it up in that trimester, you are ahead of the game.

Light,Healthy foods, vitamins, stay away from fast food, and fried foods, because if you do experience morning sickness, you don't want to be miserable, and be a candidate for dehydration.
