I use my laptop about 6 hours a day ! avrage download and upload 2gb per day! dvd-rw usage about 15 dvds per week!
I cleand and defrag C: drive once in every 2 week !

It dident used to click for about month when i first brought my laptop!

Why? Can't you hum along? I bet it would sound great!

Really, I am a computer technician, (which is a rarity among penguins, let me assure you). I find that the gentle tapping means that the drive heads are slamming the stops, and so, they are doomed.

Hope you saved backups, often.

I don't use FAT 32 nor NTFS file systems, anymore, and, coincidently, my 92 computers haven't suffered a hard drive failure in two years! I run 8 Macs (hfs+), 1 DEC Alpha (UDF and EXT3), and the rest run EXT3 and ReiserFS.

But, I am a space happy Penguin who types, so what would I know?

Clicking is a normal function of positioning the heads. Ignore it.

Actually I would be a little worried if this clicking is something it hasnt always done. What I would do if I were you is BACK UP anything important now.

no matter what, its going to make clicks...its how a HD works really...

have a look at one running some time...they move super fast
