Eclipses do not create earthquakes or volcanic eruptions. As far as the alignment of the Sun, Earth and Moon is concerned there is hardly any difference between a new moon and a solar eclipse or a full moon and a lunar eclipse. There is a new moon and a full moon every month but we do not have a regular monthly cycle of earthquakes and volcanoes. Whoever told you that about eclipses is an idiot.

You should ask this in astrology -- there's a book of moonsigns that tells how the eclipses affect earthquakes. But it's all over the place! The earthquakes can happen before OR after the earthquake, and I really don't think it's science at all.
Sad to say, there's no way to predict earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, yet. Some seem to fit a cycle, but others are completely unpredictable. I live in Japan, and have gone through several earthquakes -- believe me, if there were a reliable way to predict earth activity via eclipses, we'd all know about it here.
Sorry. You can still prepare for earthquakes, though. Once a year on the anniversary of the Great Kanto Quake, many people in Japan check their earthquake kit. Here's one from the Red Cross.

Astrology is the right area for this question. Eclipses have nothing to do with volcanoes or earthquakes except in cheesy horror movies (I like many of these movies - they are fun).
