I have my own set of morals and ethics. In some ways they are stricter than others, in some ways not.
If I go against them I feel guilty.
I am a law abiding citizen because I do not wish to face the penalty of being otherwise. However, I would not feel guilt if I broke a law that I deemed stupid. I do not break the ones I deem stupid because I do not wish to face the penalty.
Part of my personal moral code is if I have treated someone poorly who does not merit it I feel guilty. If they do merit it (someone really has to wrong me) and I treat them poorly, I do not feel any guilt whatsoever.
Who is to judge who merits it? Each individual. In my specific case... me. Of course, I ask my friends and loved ones advice and, if I am wrong, I feel guilty. I then apologize and make restitution to the individual I treated poorly.
I am a very courteous man and if I treat a stranger discourteously by accident or if I am having a bad day and act badly, I feel guilty. I usually have the chance to apologize. Once I apologize, however, it is up to them to accept it and, if they do not, I have no further guilt.
I also am a very controlled man and if I act out of anger or show lack of control, I feel guilty and, again, seek to apologize.
One of the things I know is that, if I err and I make every reasonable attempt to apologize or provide restitution, I have done my part. Afterwards, it is their choice to accept or deny my apology and restitution. My guilt ends there.

Never. Analyze guilt. I believe it is the feeling that we have done something that we shouldn't have done. Okay, tell me the last time you ever did anything that, at the time you were doing it, you felt it was the wrong thing to do? Probably you only did what you felt, at the time you were doing it, was correct. It's only later, after new information comes to light, that we decide something we did earlier may not have been a good idea...but that's an after-decision made on new information. So feeling guilty is really hitting yourself over the head for having made a perfectly good and valid decision and then, later, after you learned something new, deciding your decision was wrong. But it wasn't wrong when you made it...so why beat yourself up over having made a "good decision". You're not being fair to yourself. Think about this. The truth is, YOU HAVE NEVER MADE A MISTAKE...and thus there is no reason for you to ever feel guilty. Guilt and self-blame and ideas of mistakes come ONLY AFTER NEW INFORMATION COMES TO LIGHT. So it really isn't fair to blame yourself because something new comes up. Had you known the new stuff when you made the original decision, you wouldn't have made it in the first place.

i feel guilty only when others make me feel guilty by telling other people that i am guilty then we go to court (27th one this month) and i get accused of some stupid thing like murder or rape or like blowing up some random building (just kidding on those just to make a point) so i think the only time i feel guilty is when i feel guilty!
