Manchester United have not given up the league lead all year. Currently I think they could be a bit tired, but we have sufficent depth to hold on. It doesnt hurt that Liverpool and Arsenal had poor starts and are some points behind.
Chelsea our biggest rival had a terrible last few weeks and their defence is still thin without Terry. It doesnt seem the trouble with Shevchenko and Mourinho is done and they are not getting reinforcements.
As to United being the best in Europe, we are one of the best surely. But I think we may put more into the league than Champions league this year.

In the EPL this season? Yes, they they are currently no.1 and they currently have the best performance. But in the whole of Europe? Let's find out who will win the Champions League first, then we could argue who is the best.
But if you will look at the cumulative successes of each club in the history of the English FA, then the best club is Liverpool FC.

Man Utd will win the League this year but for pure entertainment there is no better team to watch in England than Arsenal in full flow. Very similar to Barca last year.
