Sharapova has a very basic problem with court coverage. She doesn't shift her body weight well and keep her body balanced whenever she run back and forth to return the balls. She stumbles everytime she changes direction. Her game is very much in the style of former champion, Monica Seles. I'm not comparing her to Seles because of their superloud grunting, but the way they move around the court -- they just don't know how to control their momentum whenever they have to change direction to retrieve out of court balls. And Sharapova's game is one-dimensional. All she has is strong deep groundstrokes, and when she isn't on on the day, like what happened in the final against Serena, she doesn't have a "Plan B", which is very unfortunate. She has a great attitude about the sport and in general though. You could see she was in tears but she maintained her composure and saluted her conqueror. She is a very mature lady for a 19-year-old, and I think that's the main reason she appeals to endorsers, cos she is radiant not only on the outside, but moreso on the inside, which really shows.

Well, you are right about Maria not playing her best tennis, but I believe that even if she had, she would not have beaten Serena. Serena is in another class altogether. Serena is way above and beyond any of the women playing today. Maybe the whole time she was there, she was worried about having to have to play against Serena. Serena has that big intimidation factor going on, which is in the mind of the other players mostly, and that's simply because of her game.

Serena brutally exposed Maria's weakness, her inability to cover the court. Even I never knew that she is such a pathetic runner!!! It was the same game that Serena had shown against Jelena, and when she does that, you would rather wish you were a spectator. Jelena managed to pull out a better final scoreline, because she is an excellent mover and was able to bring many balls back into play. Maria, on the other hand, was left to gape like a baboon as the balls rocketed past her. I was verey angry with Maria when she beat Kim, but now I am feeling a bit sorry for her. Anyway, this isn't her career's worst loss. She had lost 0-6 0-6 to Lindsay Davenport in 2005.

Ugh. What a drubbing, eh? I think she was just out-gunned. 81st in the world on not, Serena is still a Williams. And I just think they play out of their minds when they want. Sharapova didn't even look too bad out there tonight. Everything was going Williams' way is all. Didn't you get the feeling too that toward the end of the first set Williams had crushed Sharapova's spirit? Her facial expressions didn't fill me with confidence. She looked like she knew she had lost.

She was mentally tormented by Serena's powerful ground strokes which she exhibited right from the word go...eventually she couldn't even unfurl one of her biggest weapon which is her service...right now she doesn't needs a tennis coach but a psychoanalyst to regain her mental fitness and to maintain her composure on the court....Only great minds like Federer and Serena can win great matches..

I think it was a loop-sided win for Serena. Maria was just too intimidated by Serena's aggressiveness.
Serena's win over Maria is great for women's tennis.

Maria was dominated from the start by Serena...she just wasn't able to gather enough momentum to overcome the whipping she was getting.
Plus, she made too many mistakes, double faults and unforced errors.
In this match, Serena was unbeatable.

Maria's enormous serve is off the rhythm, because of her shoulder difficulty. i do no longer think she has recovered from it thoroughly. for sure one won't be in a position of accomplish one's suitable with an ongoing subject. on the different hand, speedy increasing Oudin confirmed no mercy...for this reason Melanie became waiting to close out the tournament in 3 instruments. totally recovered Maria can defeat any WTA participant, yet no longer yet, regrettably.
