I'd worry first about getting a workable manuscript together before I started stressing editors and publishers. the most important thing is getting some words, any words, down on the screen. From there, you craft, complain, struggle, quit, start again.

Usually, once you've got something worthwhile, you can send out a few chapters to different publishers. However, it's not like there's a shortage of manuscripts on their desks, you know? So, another option is to enter fiction contests (do you research, there are quite a few scams out there). If you win, you'll get a small book deal, a few dollars, and then you'll see where you can go from there.

It's a good goal, to write a novel, but I think it's more important to write first from the gut and from some terrible itch in your brain before starting to look toward publication and editors and the business side of things.

No one can really tell you "how" to write. Each and every person does it differently. As far as the rest, you can't really worry about that until you have the book in hand. Then you can start shopping for agents that will take you on. Most publishers won't bother with you, if you don't have an agent. Once you get an agent, they should do most of the work for you.

i chanced on it heavily useful to attend writers conferences and workshops. I discovered very lots approximately writing in a usual experience (and everyone can advance, no be counted how sturdy you're), and grew to become into additionally fortunate adequate to get some form-specific coaching. Workshops and conferences frequenctly have authors, editors and brokers who will answer your questions. do only no longer attempt to push your e book off on them in the bathing room between sessions, in case you be attentive to what I advise. that style of stuff rather happens and rather annoys them. I trust a pair of different posters that that's needed have an agent in case you like a substantial writer, inspite of the incontrovertible fact that it need no longer be puzzling to get one as quickly as you have generic a relationship with an author who will advise you. And to reiterate what somebody already mentioned, you do no longer pay an agent to symbolize or examine your e book; you pay them a share for advertising it. No sale, no pay.
