Maybe they are gutted cos they wanted to borrow your clothes and make up!!!!!
Relax, theres nothing wrong with curiosity, and isn't that a rather hypocritical question.............you clearly don't like assumptions being made about you, however you assume that all drag queens are 'neurotically vain'
The only one who seems to have a problem with you being gay is you............... Chill man!!!!
You have a vendetta against straight people and seem to think that they are all out to get you...............No we are NOT, there really is no big deal about being gay - maybe in the 80's there was a big 'ohhhh ahhh' about it, but being that we are both the same age I would think that it wouldn't really have had any affect on you as a person?!?!
I can go on, but as I said.... Its NO big deal so I can't be bothered!!!

People tend to generalize gay men as effeminate because that's the way they are portrayed in the media - just look at how the average gay man is portrayed on tv and in movies.
I've never really heard anyone making the assumption that gay men were drag queens - although most would assume drag queens are gay men. I think it probably has to do with a stereotype that gay men are supposed to be very fashion conscious - "queer eye for a straight guy" anyone?

You might ask yourself what YOU are attracted to. I doubt very much that you find ALL types of men attractive. I also doubt very much that your masculinity has anything to do with you not being able to get a date. I would guess that it more has to do with your "corpulent a s s", since bigger guys aren't considered as attractive. And this is by society in general, no just the gay community. Speaking for myself, femmes and drag queens do absolutely nothing for me sexually...if i wanted to date women i'd be straight ;) I have quite a few nelly friends, tho, but we're just not each others' types. You need to hang out with the bears ;) You'll probably be quite popular. Of course, if you don't find bears attractive, well, then i guess you're stuck ;(

What kind of straight people do you meet? I have never been asked that by any of the straight men that find out I am gay. And if someone in this room that makes a comment that it's because of my hips. Oh it's on honey! :)
As for the effeminate part, I believe that is just stereotyping. Sweet Fabulous stereotyping.

Lies tickle the ear much more then the truth. That goes for pretty much anything. Ummm, also there is an effeminate stigma that comes with gay men and it's difficult to disregard a message punded into ones head by media, public and so on.

I don't believe in your observations are even close to reality. You can only speak for you limited experience. I, being a straight guy, don't believe most gay men are drag queens. You must be in the company of morons.

Because they don't realize that some of the non-effeminate people they know are gay when there's no way to tell them from straight people. So they think that all the gay people they know are effeminate.

It's a stereotype... and remember, stereotypes are based on fact. Also, most straight people have only a few sources of exposure to gay culture and the main one is movies, which are FILLED with gay stereotypes, mostly drag queens or effeminate men.
Just be patient with the breeders... they've got their own issues, too. :-)

I don't. I happen to think gay guys are the sweetest & kindest guys judging from the ones I know. I really wish they'd teach straight men how to be good decent men, from the straight guys I know they need it

they want to be sure they're not gay. If they don't do drag they must be straight.
