Has anyone gotten a job at a career fair?

Question

I am going to a career fair, and would like to know, has anyone gotten a job that way? If so how? What should I do to impress the interviewers?

Also how do you fee about going to websites to apply to a job? It does not seem to work in my opinion....

I work as a recruiter/HR person for a very large insurance company and we use career fairs, and I can tell you that we do hire from them.
You need to come prepared, resume in hand, and ready to talk about yourself...what you want, what you can do for the company, so on. View every booth as an interview.
Probably the reason you are not getting a response from going directly to the company website is because in most cases, the person who is looking at the resumes from that is in an entirely different location, looking at resumes for the company and all its different locations. You are better off going directly to the company location you want to work at and apply directly there, and immediately ask to speak to HR. If HR is not available, ask who it is and phone number, and call right away and talk to them. Tell them you just applied, and would like to come in and talk to them about how your skill set would match with the company goals, and so on.

I've gotten jobs from fairs but they usually aren't very good ones. They make good stepping stones or after school jobs. But online jobs really do work better for both you and the employer. In either case, don't slouch, always look them straight in the eyes, and if your arms are folded the whole time they'll think you don't know what to do with yourself. And try not top use the word "like" eg... it's like totally like you don't know how to like use the english language. Good luck!
