Some people buzz around giving very negative answers to potential writers. I think maybe they should be supportive instead of telling pople not to bother trying.

I always offer positive encouragement. Everyone has to start somewhere. People can grow into writing, hone their skills over time. I was terrible when I started a few years ago. Now I've won awards online for some of my works.

I definitely think so. There always seems to be at least one negative comment that kind of ruins it, and no matter how many positive surround it that one will bring you down. Anyone who is serious about writing knows that is going to be hard. But we need a little encouragement!! There are thousands of books that prove WE CAN DO IT! We just must stay determined! Everyone was unknown before they were known... so being unknown and unpublished is our first step in becoming what we dream of

Don't listen to those people who are negative. Writing IS a difficult field to break into, but you're right: being supportive is definitely better than saying "Just give it up. You'll never make it."

Keep the faith, and don't let the grouches bring you down!!

I've dealt with both negative and positive feed-back from people, and found both to be useless.

The secret of success is sitting ones butt down to write and then getting the piece agented. Period.

Oh --- and hoping the check clears....
