I have asked a couple of those, but not really for that reason. I like to see the different opinions that people express. Sometimes I pick best answer for someone who agrees, and sometimes I pick the most intelligible answer of someone who really put their heart into the answer. Its not about agreeing, I have an open mind and can accept new ideas. You can only accept new ideas, though, when you come across a new one to consider.

I think it has to do with insecurity. Some people have to make sure that they feel the same way other people do. Lord help them if they think of something original.

precisely for that reason - to find people who agree with your opinion. And when pathetic people find others who agree with their opinion, they feel like it is more justified or popular, and it backs up their natural, if misguided, sense of arrogance and righteousness.
