My son is mentally retarded and we have been having problems with him wanting to masturbate often and in public. It is causing problems in the facility that he lives in. Trying to find out there is any type of medication that can be given to him to control the temptation to masturbate. We have tried so many things and nothing seems to work. Please help with this issue.

It seems to me that his behavior is one of the compulsive behavior. This can be found in people suffering from mental disorder. The compulsive act may differ from person to person.
You should talk to his doctor. Who may refer the case to a specialist.
A number of medications can help compulsive behavior. For example - compulsive behavior caused by anxiety can be controlled by anxiolytic. Those caused by depression can be controlled by antidepressant. Sometimes anti-psychotics can be used.
The most important thing is to identify the cause. Then the proper medication can be prescribed.

before chemically castrating (it's so demeaning and final) the person, i suggest he be evaluated by a psychiatrist to determine whether or not compulsive behavior is at play. if it is, there are pyschiatric medicnes that can be prescribed to control the compulsive behavior, thus reducing the urge to masturbate so frequently.

isn't some amount of mastubation a normal, necessary function, so as not to get "blue balls" (build-up) in the testes?
