we are using a small lan connecting with nearly 40 systems all are windows xp but some systems are windows 2000.in our lan we are access our systems using \\systemname ,what i want is no one connot access my system in a lan i want to put a password .so if any one want to access my system using \\systemname it must first ask a password.how can i put this in windows xp system please any one can help me.

Go to sharing & there u will get option for passwd.

this is best done at the admin level
just change the authorized users
or create a specific group w/security

each case allows you to require a password to gain access you can put security on any part of the system

rightclick on your shared drive, goto sharing and change settings to depending on password.
