Serena Williams of UNITED STATES beat the no 1 seed Maria Sharapova of RUSSIA in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2 to claim her third Australian Open women singles title on Saturday, 27 January 2007 at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia. she has won it twice before in 2003 & 2005.
