I came onto my period the other day and it seemed like normal but I still do cervical checks just to note the different changes. Now shouldn't the cervix be hard like the tip of your nose and open and in a low position and now high soft and closed. Mine is high, soft, and closed but I am still bleeding, should I count this as a period or should I speak with my doctor about this to further see what could be going on.

THERE ARE A LOT OF WOMEN WHO CHECK THEIR CERVIX AS WAY OF LOOKING FOR THEIR MORE FERTILE TIMES AND WHAT NOT, MY DOCTOR IS OK WITH ME DOING THIS. WHY DON'T YOU BETTER EDUCATE YOURSELF ON IT BEFORE YOU BASH ME FOR DOING IT. THERE ARE TONS OF WOMEN WHO USE THIS METHOD.

Well hunny I actually do the same thing. I check my cervix to determine more fertile times as well. To those of you who look down on it get over it, it isn't you who is doing it and if her doctor is ok with her doing it just let it go, she obviously doesn't care what you think of her doing this and nothing anyone says is going to make her stop especially if a DOCTOR tells her it is ok. My doctor told me it was ok to do this as well. Oh well some people are just so ignorant. anyways. I was always told the cervix should be low, hard and open during a period. I would address your doctor about your findings and ask her/him what may have caused this especially if this isn't normal for you durrng your period. Good luck sweetie.

every one's body looks, feels and functions very different.
if you care for your body (it take it you do that's why you posted this question) you will not think twice about going to the doc or even ringing a professional medical advise line.

the tightness, the feel and even the look of us (down there) changes with our hormones because when we have our period, are pregnant, are highley stressed or orgasim/get "in the mood" we have a lot more blood flow to that part of our body
this is why girls who get a genital wax or bikini wax a week or so b4 their due for their period find it hurts a HELL of a lot more than if done just after a period,
And a tip for when you have children (if you don't alredy have any) DON'T whatever you do get a wax 1 week b4 childbirth it is the far most worse pain i've ever had (i passed out)
and i just though i'd make myself more hygenic for the birth and keep hair out of the rip.
BUT GO TO THE DOC, WE CAN ALL ANSWER BUT YOU DON'T WANT TO DIAGNOSE YOURSELF UPON WHAT WE SAY AND FIND OUT YOU'VE MADE A BIG MISTAKE.
ANY ONE CAN SAY THEIR A DOC TO GET A BEST ANSWER, BUT DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHO IS ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS

Hope you'r all good

Any time you are unsure about what is going on
with your body...check with your doctor.
If you have been trying to get pregnant, it is
always good to check in. Better safe than sorry.

i think it's pretty uncommon for people to check their own cervix... but if you have any concerns at all, definitely call your doctor. she can do a real exam, and she is actually trained to know when there is something wrong.
