im 39 weeks ill be 40 on monday! could i have the baby soon?this is my first. does effaceing mean anything? im also thinking about takeing castor oil! has this worked for anyone?? i just keep thinking that nothing is happening because im only dialated to 1. (serious answers only please)

What it means is that you could have this baby in an hour or not for a while. Every woman is different. I was 3cm for an entire month! Some women arent dialated at all before they go into full labor. Good luck. I know you are dying to know, but honestly, thats the best answer you can be given. There is no way to tell. And trust me, once your beautiful bundle of joy is here, time will fly by all too quickly. Congrats in advance, and God bless.

don't take castor oil! your body will go into labor when it is ready, or your doc will help it along if needed. 42 weeks is still considered full term, so you aren't late. effacing means your cervix thinning out. 80% effaced is a pretty good sign labor will progress soon, but you can be dilated only a couple centimeters for a while with no progress. this is something to talk to your OB about!

properly, i'm 37 weeks alongside in the present day, and in accordance to my record at my very last appt., i'm no longer dilated yet. yet, relax certain, 37 weeks is considered "finished time period" and except there are causes to trust that your infant is underdeveloped, maximum docs received't end exertions once you hit the 37 week mark. It feels like you're turning out to be close, honestly. And, there is really no reason to be in touch, yet make effective you've were given each and every thing waiting (bags packed, motor vehicle seat in motor vehicle, telephone record, coverage playing cards and identity, registered on the health center, and so on.) ... Your due date will be off somewhat, yet also you should do not ignore that that's merely an ESTIMATE. merely 'reason you bypass into exertions in the subsequent couple of weeks or so, would not recommend a hill 'o beans..... Congrats, Mama!! :-) that's coming quickly!

Just sit back and it will happen all on its own.Are you haveing contractions?I heard castor oil works but you will progress all on your own.

A good book on pregnancy and childbirth will answer these questions for you... better yet, have your doctor explain these terms to you. That's what he's there for!
