I would recommend Ah! My Goddess! Being a fan of FB and Chobits, this would be a definte pick!

It's about the story of college freshman Keiichi Morisato, who, because of his pure heart, has been chosen by Yggdrasil, Heaven's computer system, to receive a single wish. The angelic "goddess" Belldandy is sent down to Earth to ask for his wish, and tells him that he can potentially wish for anything that he wants, from becoming a billionaire to destroying the world in an instant. However, Keiichi thinks that this entire meeting is a prank being played by his roommates, and so he wishes for Belldandy to stay with him forever, which, much to Keiichi's surprise, she does gladly!

There's the series of Ah! My Goddess! and also a 8 episode OVA called Oh! My Goddess!, I have both and they are really good! It has romance, comedy, and that most-of-the-time lightness that FB and Chobits has, with some seriousness too. I hope you like it!

Depends on what your looking for. I am not into the newer stuff but if you want some really good movies with really good stories check out Ninja Scroll, Akira, Ghost In The Shell, and Princess Mononokee. Okay, Mononokee is from the last few years but a very good anime, also helps it has some star power for voice talents like Billy Bob Thorton, Minnie Driver, and I think Kate Moss. Bubblegum Crisis is cool too.

Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi)(2001) --

Spirited Away, is about a 10-year old girl named Chihiro, who goes on one fantastic adventure. Think of the film in terms of a RPG game, where Chihiro must go through a quest of her own to save her parents. Along the way she must find friends and allies who are willing to help her fight against the Gods and monsters of the Land of Spirits. Losing her name along the way, she must fight to not only save her parents, but regain her own identity in a world that at times doesn't make sense to her, and at others seems as far from home as someone could get. The character development, and the way that Miyazaki makes us care about the people in the film is what ended up making this a winner to me. Though it may seem like an easy, clear-cut Disney type plot, the story goes much deeper than what is on the surface. That is one of the reasons I felt the movie was so deserving of its best Animated Feature win in 2003, and is worth giving a chance to. The battle of good and evil is now in the hands of a young girl.

You should check out Fate/Stay Night on youtube. It's actually pretty good. Or, surf absoluteanime.com until you find an anime you like. Anyway, in my opinion, Fate/Stay Night is one of the BEST animes out there. You could also try checking out Ouran High School Host Club and Naruto.

Ouran High School Host Club is a story that takes place primarily at Ouran High School. The school is an exclusive institution reserved only for students from incredibly wealthy and affluent families. One exception is scholarship student Haruhi Fujioka, a young girl from a lower-middle class family who has a 'low threshold for gender identity'. Because of this (and the superfluous cost of the school uniform), Haruhi resorts to wearing long slacks, polo shirts and a vest that resembles the male student's uniform. Therefore, upon entering school, she was at first taken as a male student.

One day, she begins to search through the vast campus for a quiet place to study since the libraries are filled with gossiping students. Her search takes her to the technically unused Third Music Room where she stumbles upon the Host Club - a group of six attractive male students who spend their time charming and entertaining the school's girls for profit. During their first meeting, Haruhi is shocked at their behavior which causes her to accidentally knock over a very expensive vase valued at ¥8,000,000 ($80,000 US in the English manga). This causes Haruhi to contract a massive debt with the Host Club. In order to pay off the large sum, she is employed as the club's "dog" and is constantly ordered to do menial tasks for the members, such as serving food or cleaning up.

Once the club president, Tamaki Suou, sees "him" without "his" glasses, Haruhi is promoted to be one of the hosts of the club as a way to pay off "his" huge debt. The other club members soon discover that Haruhi is a female, but since she is already accepted by the club's customers and became one of the main attractions of the club, Haruhi is allowed, and continues to be forced to stay until she has accumulated a total of 100 (which later grows to 1,000) customers, at which time her debt would be considered paid in full.

Later, Haruhi develops close personal relationships with the members of the host club, managing to capture most of their hearts. Tamaki and Hikaru are the more obvious ones but Hunny thinks that Kyoya and Kaoru are romantically interested in her.

I don't watch those types. The action ones that are good are Fullmetal Alchemist, Bleach or InuYasha.
