I've often thought about what I would do if I got rich and famous or won the lottery. One thing that always comes to mind is getting a custom-made suit of armor - tailored to my needs and desires. I'd also love to have a large battleaxe, maybe some other medeival / fantasy weapons. I wouldn't really use them, except for fun. Is this really weird? Or is it just the little kid within me trying to express itself?

Not at all! You should join the Society for Creative Anachronism: http://www.sca.org

You dress up in medieval clothes, go to a place where everyone else is wearing medieval clothes, and spend the weekend immersed in medieval culture! You can learn to be a fighter and participate in battles (which are NOT scripted-- it's best fighter wins!). You often can take classes about textiles, blacksmithing, etc. and try it yourself. There is often a delicious feast, and sometimes a daily sideboard. Often there is dancing, which includes practice during the day when they teach you how to do the dances. Sometimes there are games, with prizes awarded at Court. Many events involve camping outside if you want to stay overnight.

This is not a Renaissance Fair. Our events are NOT open to the public-- it's members only (and friends of members or newcomers interested in joining.) You need to have medieval clothes to participate!

This also is NOT live-action role playing. We do develop our own personas and pretend we're actually in medieval times, but that's as far as it goes-- there's no RPG stuff, no storyline or character sheets or dice or any of that crap. Anyone who tries to compare SCA to LARP will get a hearty punch to the face.

The SCA has more than 30,000 members across the Americas, Europe, Australia, and Africa. The SCA has become its own culture, with members you can recognize on the street by their appearance and personality. We have stories, songs, traditions, and language that is unique to the SCA. As one of our classic songs describes us-- "We're just a bunch of historical nuts!"

One Guy in Kentucky Liked that Idea... He built a Full size Castle back in the late 70's and 80's had to sell it in the 90's

A guy in Texas built his castle on a Hill side over looking I20 and its Now a Hunting Lodge.

Your will find its not Weird at all... I never want a suit of Armor I just wanted a Wizards robe and my own Sword like Excalibur in the movie.

I don't think it's weird at all. They just don't make things like they did back then. If had lots of money I would buy so many Lord of the Ring replicas: I'd buy Anduril (the sword that used to Narsil. The one that cut the finger of Sauron's hand and that Aragor later received), I'd buy the One Ring replica, I'd buy Sting the sword that Bilbo gave to Frodo.
Last but not least... I'd have a replica of Link's sword The Master Sword (from The Legend of Zelda.)

I don't think it's weird at all.

I've always had a fascination for old weapons, daggers, tools of torture. Of course, I'm not into the whole 'torture' thing. But I think it'd be nice to have a collection of those instruments.. as some sort of conversation pieces.

I've seen millionaires on TV build castles with moats and drawbridges. It's the same thing I guess. If it interests you, OK.

I love old furniture and silverware, hippy stuff and beutifully handcrafted things in general. My youngest son loves armour too. It's just part of who we are, nothing wrong with that.

If you are buying them to display in a collection, then no. If you plan on wearing it, walking down the street in it, etc...then, yes!
