It depends on the material of the dress (is the dress shiny/metallic or not?), the shade of gold, and your personal coloring. Just about ANY color can go great with gold.

Jewel-toned colors (garnet-red, sapphire-blue, amethyst-purple, fushia, magenta, emerald-green) look great on brunettes, green or hazel or dark eyes, tan or olive or darker complexions.

Lighter pastel tones (pinks, lavender, sky-blue) look good on lighter hair colors, pale to medium complexions, blue or grey eyes.

And then there's always the classic colors (black and white) that look great on everyone and also look great with gold.

Also, don't load up on too much gold jewelry...keep it minimal. The dress is already gold, so the gold in any jewelry should just be an accent and not the main focus.

I hope I helped a little! Have fun at your school formal!

Red and blue are both great colors that goes with gold. I would recommend blue or red jewelry and if you can find gold heels to go with the dress you will be looking too hot!

Black is a solid with gold
Hunter Green goes well
Deeper shades of dark Maroon gives a rich texture with gold

People don't think of this often, but a kelly green (or Irish green) looks beautiful with gold. If you want to play it safe, black or a deep bronze would look nice. Even a deep purple. I match accessories to outfits for a living so I'd recommend you ask the sales person for their advice. You might be suprised by what they pick out and you might like it. :)

I think aqua & sky blue or teal would look just smashing for the occasion.Especially if you have a blue eye color.
If considered, the blue color should be near your eyes.

Don't know if it will fit anywhere in shoes ? I havent see the gown.

oh oh. i went to formal with gold jewelry. and i wore a black dress. it looked really good. gold goes well with black, white, red, and dark blue, but to be safe. its most perfectly perfect with pure black and/or white.

i think an emerald green or ruby red would look stunning with a gold dress...try simple gold earrings with a pendant style necklace and a strappy shoe in one of those colors.
