I really dont think its a fender. It looks nothing like any Fender I've ever seen.

See Emily Play has been my favorite syd barret song. Happy Birthday Syd I prefer his work with Pink Floyd than his solo stuff though.

I would guess a strato-caster. Custom job, Sunburst was made popular by Hendrix and used by a lot of guitarists.
