The best advise I can give to you is bring multiple pairs of shoes. Crocs are great but so are flip flops or slides. I like to take my Borns. Not overly attractive by very comfortable. Chances are regardless of what you wear you will get blisters. Take all of your options so that you can alternate your shoes. You can even keep a pair of flip flops in your bag just in case you want to change into them.
I agree with you, I hate wearing tennis shoes. Take what you would normally wear and you should be in great shape. I will attach a link to Born. They are fantastic but like any shoe you want to wear them in a little bit before your trip.

Feet getting burned on the ground is only when going BAREFOOT on pavement hotter than the soles can handle (and at more than just the water parks). Unless the flip flop is a really thin leather sole (then heat can get through that kind of sole!), flip flops are perfectly okay. It's best to make sure there's a fabric strap, instead of the rubber strap of the cheapest shower shoe type of flip flop, and make sure to take a slightly smaller steps than when using walking or running shoes.

You can absolutly wear flip flops as long as they are comfortable for 8 hours or more of walking. But certain rides you will have to take them off- i.e. certain roller coasters you will have to take them off and sit on them. Most water rides you will prefer flip flops- they dry much better then tennis shoes. Esp at Wet N Wild- I wear my flip flops EVERYWHERE here- even to restaurants- well the casual ones at least- I would say flip flops are the absolute norm here- hey- you're on vacation! I think I own about 50 pairs in every color of the rainbow- you will quickly learn and see where everyone wears them! Just make sure to put sunscreen on the tops of your feet or you willl quickly learn the perils of sunburnt feet! VERY painful
That is crazy whoever told you not to wear flip flops in Orlando- I think it's our official state shoe

I would not recommend wearing flip flops. Your feet will be killing you by the end of the day. I wear Sketchers tennis shoe when ever I go. I know you dont like tennis shoes but they are very comfy. You might try Crocs. Those are really comfy too. Have fun.

I prefer jogger type shoes if I'm walking all day.
They have the correct support.
Flip flops (though they are sooo comfy), can be a hassle on rides etc.
Either thay 're always falling off or you need someone to leave them with etc.
Crocs are another great shoe; comfortable, light, air-conditioned and won't fall off.
Have a look at them at the link below (you can order online too):

i dont understand why people buy crocs.. honestly do not get one it doesn't look good anyone. if your comfortable wearing flip flops go ahead wear it (that what i do). but i also have puma sneakers that are light weight and small enough to carry in my backpack for when my feet gets tired of the flip flops.
it all depends on the weather. if its hot all day its nice to wear sneakers so that your feet wont get burned on the ground. when its raining its nice to wear the flip flops so that your sneakers dont get wet.
really, you can go both ways.

Honestly, you can wear flipflops, I do almost every time I go. Other than that, if you don't like sneakers, wear Crocs. Sorry, I don't have pic, but just type in 'crocs' into a yahoo search and look at images.

Not sure where to buy them, but my wife has Crocs. They are like a rubber clog shoe. I thought looked liked gardener shoes, but i have tried them on and Maaaan are they comfortable. They are well ventilated, waterproof, and many professionals who are on their feet alot swear by them. Nurses, etc.
