If you just turn the clock back 20 years, and see where Mumbai is to, it will give you a glimpse of what will happen. If you have not seen Mumbai 20 years ago, you do not have much of an idea.

Let me tell you that 'change is the only constant'. We have not seen anything yet.

If you search on Google for 'What will Mumbai look like in future', there is actually a huge PPS file that someone put together that has all the details in it. Of course, it is a futuristic look by taking portions of HK, NYC, Singapore and making Mumbai look like that. But, clearly, it will look like the HK of 2006 when we are in 2020.

Mumbai is overcrowded. It's a fascinating place for Bollywood, but not a place to settle down and buy a house. The commute is hellish cause the city has a population of 15 mil. The population of NY City is 6 mil. Mumbai has one of the most expensive real estate markets in the world, but as far as infrastructure, there is poverty down below, and the filthy rich who live up in the skyscrapers. There is one thing about Mumbai. It's one of the most happening places in the world.

I think you'll find the previous record spend for an embassy was somewhere like Guatamala... Are we getting the big picture here folks? Hint - in the old days you'd build a castle as an administrative centre when you conquered a new region. ; )
