Yes, He cares when Itachi finds out I believe it was episode 80 or 81. He is surprised, but Orochimaru also says that Itachi would kill him in a straight fight (at the present time, cause he couldn't use his arms). Itachi recognizes the cursed seal on Sasuke's neck sunce Orochimaru was once Akatsuki member (Everybody knows 3 years must pass). That's why Itachi tortured Sasuke again with Mangekyo Sharingan so he would hunger for REVENGE & Power more. After that happened, Sasuke was enraged completely, and that is when he really started to separate himself from Team Kakashi.
If Sasuke can't handle Orochimaru then, he will never handle Itachi.

Of course Itachi cares. The whole reason he didn't kill Sasuke to begin with was because he knows that Sasuke has the potential to reach the Mangekyo Sharingan and become the final test of his own power. Whether Sasuke actually reaches that level or not is something I want to see.

For all I care Sasuke can go ahead and die... no mean word to you friend. To answer your question I think the people that itachi work with, or for want his body for some reason but I have no idea!!!!

Hell! no why would he kill his own clan and let sasuke live
besides i've heard sasuke isn't gonna come back to Konoha
his gonna stay with orochimaru
so itachi would want to be the only one with sharingan
besides kakashi which he had beaten
I want sasuke to die hehehe

I have heard about a conspiracy thing where Itachi messed with Sauske's mind to save him... But I'm not sure if it true and I dont want to post the rest of it to maybe ruin the plot, it could be true or not...
I'm sure Itachi does care, but wants to see Sauske get strong enough to escape. Though Sauske doesn't care at all.
