Nothing. There is no such thing.

There is freedom of religion, if that's what you mean.

Just where are you reading this drivel? There is NO "stranglehold" of the religious right on democracy. Freedom of Religion is PART of the genius of our democracy and our form of government. (It is the right of the people to have their own religion, or none at all, without the majority dictating EITHER. )

It is usually someone who has an antipathy to religious thought that feels threatened by it, and believes they are being "strangled" by religion. The truth is far different. Our religious beliefs in the history of this country have informed our ideas of right and wrong, and ethics, and what is fair and decent and truth. Seeking a "brave new world" of atheism or secularity does nothing in a pluralistic society but guarantee absolute anarchy and a belief that every point of view is equally true.

Do you purport the religious right should have less of a voice than you do? They are American citizens, and have the right to vote, the right to assemble, and the right to petition the government for redress of their grievances...just like you do.

How about this for a plan: if you disagree with them so vehemently, out-vote them. If you can't do that, you're just whining about sour grapes...or anti-democratic.

If the religious right had ANY influence in our government, abortion would be illegal, drug dealers would get the death penalty,Homosexuality would be illegal, and there would be prayer in ALL public schools.I do not know what mental institution turned you loose before you were cured, but you are truly NUTS.

the only way is to hope people will vote their heart and not what someone else tells them to do...and keep talking about it, some are bound to get it......if a pastor or priest tells someone how to vote, he is going over the line and the government should take away their tax-emempt status

You'll have to vote for people who are filled with as much hatred for the "religious right" as you are.

Clearly you are referring to the Middle East, where you must convert or die. Here in the US, you are free to worship (or not) as you please. Heck, we just let a guy swear in on the koran! But please do not come here, we are full up with illegal aliens trying to escape the oppression of their homeland.
