diamonds can be many different colors and are not always clear the sparkle that the stone gives off is based on the cut of the stone take it to a professional to find out if your stone is real
they will probably do it for free or really cheap

Take it to a jeweler.
Edit: The glass scratching doesn't always work because you have to have the diamond positioned just right.

All real diamonds have a trace of carbon in them.
Fake ones are perfect.

One of the ways you can tell just by looking at it is if you hold it under a bright light and while moving it back and forth, noticing the flashes of light in the stone. If you see a lot of red and pink light, it is fake. If you see a lot of blue light, it is most likely real.

If you shine a light (pin-point light) through a real diamond, it will be reflected. You can see a light go through glass, crystal, ect.

You cant especailly nowadays, only reliable jeweler can tell the difference because they have a tester.

Scrape it over a piece of glass. If it scratches it, its real.
