The blindly supports Israel and Israel supports the US because each furthers the other's policy and covers up each others terrorism and war crimes. What Israel does is what the US wants, and vice versa.
US policy has always been predicated on "national interests", regardless of their effects. Put it this way, if the US could do a deal between itself and Zazaland, and there were two choices:
1) Both countries get a good deal
2) The US gets a good deal while Zazaland gets screwed
The US will ALWAYS choose the second if the two deals cost them the same price. Bullying other countries is standard practice for the US.
> "Every ten years or so, the United States needs to
> pick up some small crappy little country and throw
> it against the wall, just to show the world we mean
> business."
- Michael Ledeen, holder of the Freedom Chair at the American Enterprise Institute
"Freedom chair"? And the US *still* hasn't figure out why 9/11 happened.
Israel, on the other hand, sees itself as "special", that the religious nonsense of jews being "god's chosen people" putting them above others politically, socially, and legally. They hold everyone in contempt and have been quoted as laughing at how willing the US is to bend and help Israel.
> "The relationship between the Mossad and Danish

> the Hebrew term for a small burst of gas, a fart…they

- Victor Ostrovsky, Canadian jew and ex-Mossad agent,
in his book, "By Way Of Deception"
The real quotations of Israeli prime ministers about the Palestinians and others are staggering; they are reminiscent of what the Nazis said about the jews. Some of them didn't consider the Palestinians to be human or having a right to live, never mind have any land.

- Golda Meir, statement to The Sunday Times, 15 June, 1969.
You can't make this stuff up, it's too bizarre.
Additional:
To "lostandflounder" - If you believe the lie that the US "criticizes Israel", then explain why the US has vetoed *EVERY* UN resolution against Israel. Every single one, even when it was demonstrably true that Israel was committing war crimes, some worse than what Saddam did to the Kurds.

America's support for Israel hasn't historically been completely one-sided. The Eisenhower administration sided with Egypt against Israel, France and the UK in the Suez crisis. Official policies and every peace deal brokered by the US calls for Israel to withdraw from the occupied territories. The United States supports the existence of the state of Israel and a Palestinian state. However, especially with the Bush administration you see almost blind support regardless of issue. Some of the factors behind this are a very powerful pro-Israel lobby in the US, the growth of the evangelical Christian movement and their 'end-times' identification with Israel, and a real lack of knowledge of how the Palestinians are treated in the occupied territories (read J. Carter's new book Palestine Peace not Apartheid). A dedicated group can sway US foreign policy. Take the example of the Cuban embargo. Is it effective? Hardly but it really matters to a group of Cuban exiles. There is also a strong sense of identification as both states are targets of radical Islamic terrorism. While the attacks do not occur in Israel with the frequency cited in an earlier answer, killing innocents in Israel reminds Americans of 911. Whether we should have a more balanced response to Israel's actions is a separate question but I think these are the main factors in why this adminstration is one-sided.

America is not blind in it's support of Israel. It has, on occasion, harshly criticized the nation for some of it's actions (particularly it's treatment of Palestine) and there are some groups within the U.S. who believe that having Israel as an ally has been more trouble than it is worth. That being said, America does consider Israel an ally. As for why America does support Israel more than other nations in the region, there are a few answers. One, it is one of the few true democracies in the region (Ironically, some of the others, such a Iran in the 1950's, America helped to overthrow) Two, America has very few other allies in the region and needs to keep what allies it has close in order to protect it's interests. (namely oil) And three, America helped to create Israel and as such feels a certain responsibility to safeguarding it against groups who call for the destruction of Israel and the death of the Jewish people.

America is not blind in her support of Israel. As with every relationship in every society in the world, partnerships are based
on the ability to communicate effectively. America has demonstrated time and again that her desire is for peace and stability and has offered her support to that cause consisently for many years.
No one claims that Israel is always 'right'. But as long as the views are focused on right and wrong the issues can never be resolved. Therefore, America mainly chooses not to join in that discussion.
It will only be when both Israel and her Arab neighbors are willing to talk about "How" to achieve peace, rather than "Who" is right and "Who" is wrong, will there ever be any hope of stability.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT THIS, we (American politics) have already interfered and screwed up almost everything we've ever wanted in the Middle east except during WWII when we took it! We are obviously the Palestinians BEST FRIENDS as without our continual butting into middle eastern and Israeli affairs -- there simply WOULD NOT BE ANY PALESTINIANS. It's
difficult to conceive, but the British would still control the Suez Canal. Egypt wouldn't have DARED to invade and attack Israel. Many middle eastern
cities would have lots of bomb rubble and there would be peace in Iraq,
because the victim country Israel, would fight back and the "I'm gonna kill you " neighbors of Israel would decide that LIVING might be a better choice than killing a Jew. Duh! Yeah, thanks to the good ol' USA politics...and YOU
are COMPLAINING?

My question to you would be: who's historical past could we be extra conscious of? You quote from a writing by utilising an Arab, who's purely attracted to making a competent case for Palestine and the Arab/Muslim international, yet spurns the Israeli claims of past possession. you besides would state that that's absurd to realize lower back so a strategies in time while it includes Israels claims, yet overlook with regard to the reality that Palestine too, has been vacant from the land for millennia. I do sense sorry for the plight of the Palestinians, yet they have been provided lands equivalent to what have been apportioned to Israel interior the forties and that they refused them, on an identical time as Israel widely used. Now, you and this kind of great form of others can basically see Israel with the aid of fact the undesirable guy. in no way ideas that they have had to combat wars against extraordinarily much each Muslim/Arab united states interior the region, in specific circumstances 2 or extra worldwide places at as quickly as and that they have been useful every time. the place is the compassion for Israel from people such as you appear like? Does the reality that Hamas has fired over 3,000 rockets into Israeli inhabitants centers mean no longer something to you and does it no longer worry you that the "brave" leaders of Hamas cover themselves and their weapons in Mosques, faculties and hospitals, utilising the ladies individuals and young ones that are continually contemporary as human shields? As I pronounced, I do sense for the Palestinians, yet they voted Hamas into power, understanding that Hamas is sworn to exterminate Israel and that they have not have been given all and sundry in charge for their contemporary depressing plight yet themselves.

Ridiculous Question, even more ridiculous answers.
Oh yes, USA is "slaved" (awesome grammar) by Israel.
Incorrect. 90% of Israeli weaponry is somehow aquired through connections with the United States, which is one reason they are one of the few countries to have Nuclear Subs and Laser defense systems. The reason for this is because after World War II America made a pledge to protect the Nation State of Israel after it was created in 1946.
The reason it has need so MUCH protecting is because the Muslim nations around it are INSANE.
Look at the lines of Israel drawn in 1946, look at where the fighting is going on today. It is all within Israeli territory -- How can you even claim that they are encrotching on your land?
You can say whatever the f-ck you want about American bias and slanted Media but Al-Jazeera is MUCH worse.
What are you even complaining about now. Go throw more rocks at a tank you ignorant piece of lameness.

Actually there are three major sides to America.
1. faith in their god, and their country. (Republican)
2. making money for the self. (both Republics and Democratic)
3. taking care of other, punishing those whom are selfish. (Democratic)
I think Americans are more for their Americans dreams (#2, independentism (not supporting those whom are dependent, as well as not supporting everyone helping each other) then anything else, so their not into waking up to look and then seeing things are they are.

Cause like many other countries in the world our media is censored and we are not always given the truth or the full story, if the story at all sometimes. And many Americans are too busy with who is on TV next, what some actress is doing or who they are dating, or what they are gonna wear tomorrow. They don't pay attention to the "real world" just their personal fantasy world.
Look into history at what and how the German people went through stuff as Hitler took power. The propaganda, the power, etc. History is repeating itself, just this time in the USA.
Look up Bush. His grandfather Prescot Bush was a major banker and backer of Hitler. And even President Bush's father, the last President Bush is on record from 1992 stating " if the American people knew what the Bush family has done, they'd chase us through the streets and lynch us".
