Life of Pi by Yann Martel - It really makes you think about what you're capable of when in dire straights. It also has questions at the back of the book that help you sort out some of the thorny issues in the book. Fabulous book!

Gary Zukov's Seat of the Soul. It's a mind blower! Great book! I've read it 3 times since it came out in the 80's and I'm about to read it again.

Yes, several. It is all part of the growth process. I enjoyed Nietzsche when I was young and immature, but came to realize that he was mostly a hack, who borrowed from better writers' ideas, and presented them in a format almost anyone can comprehend. Atlas Shrugged was also an important book for me until I realized that Objectivism disrespects humanity. Either Nietzche or Rand are popular among moderately educated people, but life itself has proven the absences and errors in those works. And a little research into Nietzsche would help one understand just how horrible his existence was, largely due to the deleterious effects of his controlling, manipulative sister.

"Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance"

It's really deep and a little confusing to start, but it brings such inner peace by the middle/end of the story. A great story of a man going on a motorcycle trip with his son riding with him and his best friend on another bike. This book changed the way that I deal with every day issues, and I've been genuinely happy 99.9% of the days since I finished the book. It literally changed my life!

The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Night Time. Amazing book about a young man living with asperger's syndrome. Really made me think about how people connect and communicate with each other and how the world can seem like a really bad place, that you don't fit in to. Amazing book.
