I'm living in Australia and there's this socket that's on the wall, but I'm not sure what it's used for. It's somehow placed along with the power socket and phone line sockets.

I've stuck a twenty cent coin onto the socket as well, so you can know how big it actually is. Can someone please tell me what it's for or what it's called? Thanks.

That Friend is a "F" cable it can be called buy many names
1) F cable
2) Coax
3) RG 59
4) RG 6
5) Sat / Cable
it is use most of the time for SAT / TV , Cable / TV , or even an CCTV and security systems

That is a cable outlet. Could be used for either hooking up to a cable internet connect, cable tv, or I have even seen them used just to hook up to an tv antenna for the home. If you are asking about the black circle to the right of the outlet I havent a clue as to what that is by what the pic shows.

That is a cable tv receptacle. It has a coaxial cable hooked to it to supply the signal. They are very abundant in America. They are used for supplying cable tv here, I don't know about there.
