I mean we could interpet any of the Constitution in any way we see fit. We do not need amendments.

Amending the constitution is important so that it will be dynamic and should adjust to the demands of technology and modernity.

Living things grow and evolve. The constitution must do the same, or stagnate and become irrelevent. Short of a constitutional convention to overhaul the entire document, ammendments are how we keep the constitution current with the times.

"Living document" whatever!
that is a left winger socialist word!
Nope the founding fathers got it right!
their is nothing needing to change!
and to answer technology let their be laws passed to address those issues. but to say we should change because society changes over time? whatever, then u just say basically that "mob" rule is best way to govern!so if thats so if the majority of americans smoke dope what we should make it legal then? that is left winger logic!
get real the truth is the left hates the concepts of absolutes in life because then they are then held responsible and accountable for their decisions and they despise that

The times they are a changing and we have to bend like a willow and not an oak according to all those political powers? Not!
It is a living breathing document and they want to suffocate us and snuff out the life of that document by adding things like the Patriot Act. I do not understand why these ignorant politicians, everytime they get their backs against the wall they come out like a rat attack. Or they quiver and shiver in their poopy shoes, and pass laws to punish our people. Have some balls and go and get those dirty devils and stop prohibiting our traffic, hiking the taxes, taking away our medical benefits, stop our air traffic, reduce our right to travel and make a living, making a living means more taxes, Duh? So what do you think about that? Vote no to all amendments. Just change the laws individually, not blanket laws so those lazy guys in Washington don't have to go home to their home state and work instead of hanging out in their mercedes limos, buying mistresses, eating lobster and steak, going to fancy parties on our tax dollars, All those fundraisers are paid for by us and the money they make goes to their personal crusades like the Aids in Africa? What about Cancer in America and the children with Cancer in America. And he said no child is left out? What a liar!

The founding fathers purposely left the constitution so that it can be amended, since they realize that with time, society changes. Things that may be applicable in the past may not be so now and vice versa.

I think you misunderstand the meaning of "living document."

It is alive BECAUSE it can be amended. Maybe I am confused.

because your interpreting 'living document' any way you see fit.

It means it can be changed. it doesnt mean it can be interpreted any way you want.
