No, military power is the not the only aspect.
For eg: If you take the parade that happened yesterday, military show followed by cultural shows by all the states of India, shows on water conservation, IT growth etc; were also on display. The entire strength of the nation was on display.

I think by showing militray power is a way to show ur power to other countries n to the people of ur country that ur capable of defending ur people ur motherland, bt its nt t only way the people shud come forward from their heart n soul to celebrate their republic day to remember the struggle wht our ancestors hv gone through to make our country free n it's t duty of every young indian to hv proud n respect for our country, nt by saying on republic or independence day bt on each n every day they shud respect n hv the spirit to do things to make our country stand globally

Otherwise what else can you show?. Have you noticed ladies going to the railway station and carrying water pots in one of the carriages? Like Indus valley, a new railway line civilisation is coming up in our country.
