I guess it depends on how much you really do hate the $40 per hr job. If it makes your life a living hell, take the lesser paying job.

I'm in a similar situation. I'm an over the road trucker. I am away from home working around the clock 5-6 days a week. But I would have to take a pay cut of about $8K to $10K a year to work a local job that would allow me to be home daily.

If it is a job i enjoy coming to and with people who are pleasant i rather take the twenty dollars an hour job. If i were to work at a place that i really didn't enjoy and didn't like the people, life would just be a living hell. I would be stressed out everyday and probably go into depression or just be cranky everyday. Money isn't worth everything and it would never make my forty dollars an hour job any more enjoyable. I have been in this situation before. I had a job offer for a job that paid $5.25 an hour, and quit my job which paid $8.50 just because the lower pay was a job that had alot of interest and was filled with things i enjoyed 8)

I would take the $40 an hour job, not that I'm greedy it is just I think I'd hate the $20 an hour job someday so I may as well get the better pay.

If I had to do it for 40 years, I'd rather have the $20 job I like. But if I only had to do it for maybe a year, I'd suck it up and take the $40 an hour job.

It depends on how bad I hate the $40 job. But if I really really hated it then I would still take the $40 job.

Take it from experience. If you hate a job or work environment which are two different things the extra money will not make a difference. You could make 80.00 and hour and you would still hate it..

$20/ and hour would be great! It's a lot more than I make now, and actually enjoy the job??? Wow! I could finally get a house, and a car that passes emissions every year.

I'd work the job I hated and stacked up, then quit and have enough saved so I would be okay as I looked for another gig.

lets see for $40,000 more a year I'd start to like the job I hate...or find another place to pay me the same amount or more doing the same thing with better people which is why most people hate their jobs anyway...the people around you suck!
