Spring or fall are best when the weather is mild.....fall most beautiful with folliage turning....Boston is best seen on foot so you'll want to be able to spend as much time outdoors as possible...

Columbus day would be nice if you want to leave boston and see the folliage of new england (you can see good foliage within 20 minutes of boston) but the best foliage is probably 60-90+ minutes away. The temp would probably range from 30-70 but average is probably around 50. There is lots of fall activities to do just outside the city including apple picking and pumpkin picking. I also like spring because everything starts to bloom and people will wear shorts when it's 60 degrees because we are so happy winter is ending. Then againt the flowers started blooming this January because it was 70 and yesterday it was 2 degrees when I got up so who knows! That's the joy of new england... you never can predict the weather : )

Well, it's kind of hit or miss really! We got about three feet of snow on April 1st however many years ago!
I would say not July or August...(it can be very very hot and humid!)
and i would rule out October - April.
I"d say your best bet is either mid/late September (which is nice because the leaves start changing), or May/June.
I've lived in Boston my whole life, these times of the year seem to be the most "solid" in terms of weather!

Boston , being part of New England offers weather changes no matter what season. Recently we've had 70 degree days in Januarty. Today it's 10! Go May to October, you can't go wrong during these months. Do as we do in Boston bring layers for clothing. add a layer if you're cold take a layer off if warm. Enjoy the City it's fun.

The beauty of New England is that your kinda rolling the dice when trying to plan around the weather...you never know how its going to be. But I would say fall either Mid Summer (July) or fallish (august - september). By then the heatwaves, if any, have passed and boston is always great in the falltime

Easy answer: 2nd and 3rd weeks of October. Usually still mild, usually before the first autumnal nor'easter rainstorm, the countryside to the north
is at or approaching peak foliage colors and the nearby seacoast towns and Cape Cod without tourist crowds.

Spring is nice, like in May when snow is all gone and daily temps are closer to 70.

Late Spring (mid-may) or early October would probably suit you nicely then.
