why do michael and lincolm have different surnames?! sorry, tis bugging me!

Aldo Burrows (played by Anthony John Denison) is the father of Lincoln Burrows (played by Dominic Purcell) who is the father of LJ Burrows (played by Marshall Allman).
Aldo Burrows is also the father of Michael Scofield (played by Wentworth Miller) so Michael and Lincoln are brothers.
Aldo Burrows disappeared when his sons were young so his family could be safe and not used against him as a bargaining chip.
When Aldo Burrows disappeared, his wife remarried and her new husband adopted Michael who became Michael Scofield. Lincoln was already out in the world to no good and nobody cared for him anymore.
Then, when Lincoln got into real trouble (like the electric chair kinda trouble), Michael was old enough to care and decided to save him.
Then Aldo Burrows reappeared to help his sons because he cared too and everything that happened to them was his fault anyway and then he died just after they were reunited.

Because when their mom died, Michael went into foster care with a guy down on Pershing Ave. The guy adopted him and then his name changed because he was adopted.

Micheal never new his dad and I assume that while micheal was in foster care he took the name his mom went by means dad wasn't ever in the pic.

they said michael took his mothers maiden
this is the reason. when they found out that mike and linc were brothers they said mike took his mothers maiden name cuz he never met his father
