Ya sleep talking is funny some people are receptive enough even in sleep to hear and talk it usually goes away with age.
I can have complete conversations with my brother in Spanish and mandarin but then when he wakes up he can barley string a sentence together and just goes back to English.
If you can just let him sleep that is the best after all he is just dreaming and won't remember it in the morning anyway. When i have to stay with my brother i found the rubber ear plugs really work.
Oh yeah and your brother doesn't need a therapist like the other person says sleep talking is completley normal. But if he is sleep walking that can get dangerous and you might want to go see a doctor to help him with that.

Pay no attention to the well meaning fellow who mentioned the schizophrenia.
Talking in ones sleep is done often by allot of people. Its not a sign of schizophrenia. Normal people do it, white people, b lack people, smart people, dumb people and yes even people with schizophrenia, or colds or flu or even who drive BMWs to VWs.
Its just another unknown with a whole lot of theories by scientists, psychotherapists, philosophers and so on - like dreaming.

Tell him what happened, and say " in future, I'm not going to talk after lights out, and I'd appreciate it if you did the same, because I don't know if you are talking in your sleep, or not, but if you agree, I'll know that from now on, you will be sleeptalking and I can ignore it and try to get some sleep.

no, don't wake him while he's talking, talk in the morning. my brother did the same, he has schizophrenia and lives in a group home, now I'm not saying the same will happen to your bro but maybe he should talk with someone like a therapist maybe they can tell him why he might be doing it or give several reasons.

my sister walked in her sleep. one night i watched her open the refrigerator, take out a piece of celery, and kind of walk and crawl back to bed with it. they say it's best to let things happen like that, because they never know what kind of person your sibling is.
