i guess it's just defective cause it's not like it's super hot. i turned it off for a while. It has gotten louder a few times since i bouoght it 5 years ago

Some times the MOBO's on macs, get too hot. The system will attempt to increase the fsn's speed "RPM" this will make the fan, louder. If your fan is chirping like, however then the ball bearigs, within the fan are going bad, and must be R&R'd... (removed and replaced. hope this helps.. Will.

Go to the process momitor app in utilities and see if a lot of processor activity is going on. It might help to repair permissions and do a log file rotation to decrease processor activity. Also check to see that the "breathing" holes haven't become obstructed.
