In the real world these days there are just as many wolves in the hen house as there are out of it. There was a time when these contentions were true, now there are pedophiles in the congregations and other unrepentant souls waiting to take advantage of the socially acceptable status of merely "attending" Church Synagogue etc... some are just actors putting on a show for an audience! These places of worship are one of the factors that make for a good society and I wish that it helped to bind communities and neighborhoods together. Good ones, challenge individuals and societiy to change for the better.
Lately, Church or religious activity has become a bone of discontent and confusion in the mixed messages coming out of them or they choose to remain silent on certain issues, that should be addressed.

yes people who attend church is less likely to commit a crime and statisticts have proven this time and time again, and if children go to church they learn the right way to live even if you don't believe in the church , you should let your child go so they can get another point of view from some where else,at least in church they don't encourage anyone to do any thing bad,
sure there are a few people in church who do things bad , but from the millions who go to church the percentage is very small,
can you say the same about some of the clubs your child will encounter, or the friends he associates with on the street,
there has been many criminal or young person who have been headed down the wrong road met some one from a church and started going to church and had their life turned around, and became very good upstanding citizens, but we will always have these idiots who want to claim the church brain washes people, if so it may be because some people need a brain washing, it always amazes me how some people can come up with so many stupid excuses and reasons to knock the church, and how little some people actually know about the church , but copy what some drunk or believe what other idiot said,

Sorry to burst your bubble...going to Church does not change a person's basic nature. God gave each person a conscience, but some can turn it on and off to suit their purpose. Pillars of the Church have fallen with a loud thud when the facts came out about their secret lives.
God is everywhere. Community gatherings are great, but let the participant beware...the Wolf-in-sheep's-clothing is frequently in attendance.

I'm not a avid church-goer but, I was raised in the church. I think it's great for children. It's structured. It teaches right from wrong. But, I do not believe that if you attend church that you will not commit a crime. There are bad people out there who go to church every Sunday. They act as if they are all right because they went to Church one day of the week. Look at all the criminals that were high profile in their church. The church will back them up. Look at the B2K killer. That guy was a Big wig in his church. If your a bad person you will still commit crimes.

Even people who go to church regularly are capable of committing crimes, but the numbers are probably pretty low, statistically.
On the other hand, that doesn't mean anyone who doesn't attend church is going to commit a crime either, but statistics probably would show more are likely to fall in that group than church-goers.

If people don't believe they shouldn't have to sit through some bullshit sermon in order to have a "connection with community" some of the worst people I know go to church at least 2 times a week. If church is so great how come so many criminals that are sitting in jail are so close to god at least they claim to be even prior to conviction?
The church teaches children right from wrong? Its the PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO DO THAT!

It's hilariously ironic to ask that question during a period when the Catholic Church is in so much trouble for child molestion.
