Here is an article describing how and why the imbalance in the Chinese population has occurred and some of the side effects found so far. Read to the end of the article to learn about rising violence among low-status males who don't have much hope of marrying in Chinese society, and about the human trafficking which has occurred as many men resort to stealing brides. In a recent 3 year period more than 42,000 women were rescued from human trafficking.

China

The problems that occur are males are seen as the bread winners in chinese society and that they are better able to look after their parents in old age. The females are also expensive to marry off to men (dowry still done in china)

There will be an imbalance in the population in that there will be far more males than females. China in its attempt to curb its growing population decreed that parents could only have one child. (if they had more than one they were very heavily taxed). But this is not solution to curbing the population.

Marine systems.

The increase in dead zones affect us because of the food chain. Man is at the top and anything below him on the food chain affects not only their survival but mans. (this is why global warming should be addressed) Most animals need oxygen to live and eat (their prey will need oxygen). Solutions could be looking at what affects the evironment and how we can change it. From companies not poluting and people disposing of waste properly. To clean up campaigns and reintroducing wildlife back into its habitat. Also puting areas under national parks

hope this helps

Just as a helpful hint, you should separate your two questions into two different categories. It makes answering your post a little bit of a chore to answer.

I would like to answer the part about the oxygen depletion. I would suspect that once the oxygen levels fall, you will see a huge increase of algae and prokaryote life forms that will thrive in a oxygen weak environment. This will increase undesirable gases that will make the environment unstable.

As a result, the Earth will eventually go back into another ICE AGE!
