let the battery run down before charging it. the battery holds a charge better when it drains more than 80% everytime you charge a battery that still has power left in it, you decrease the life span. this goes for all rechargeable batteries that have memory capability like the one in your cell phone.

once you have had your ipod for a long time, the battery loses more and more power until it dies forever. all mp3 players and such without removable batteries do the same thing

reset it by clicking the center button for 6 secs and also don't forget to have hold on.
