Well it's not impossible, I would find it highly unlikely that you are pregnant. The blood test would have indicated if you were pregnant or not based upon the amount of Hcg hormones you have. Since you haven't had your period in 5 months, I think the ultrasound is to help determine why you haven't had a period. Ultrasounds aren't just for seeing babies anymore.

Pregnancy blood tests are almost 100% accurrate, as long as they are taken until at least 14 days after the suspected conception date. Which means that at 5 months after your last period, it's accurrate. They are doing tests to check for other things. Have you ever heard of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)? It's the leading cause of irregular or absent periods in women or reproductive age. Has there been major stress in your life, sometimes that can cause it, too? Are you anywhere near menopause age (can start period irregularity as early as early 40's)? Have you become underweight? Been working out a lot? All can cause irregular periods. Talk with your doc and let him know if any of those things have happened in your life and ask about being evaluated for PCOS. There is no one test that tests for PCOS, they usually do an ultrasound to see if there's cysts on the ovaries, and check for other symptoms which are: excess hair in a male pattern (like hair running from belly button down like a guy's), mustache, acne, obesity, hair loss on the head, and dar patches of skin on your inner thighs, the back of your neck and under your armpits. They can also run hormone tests, b/c women w/PCOS have raised androgen levels. Whatever you do, you do need to find out why you're not having periods, b/c just letting the lining build up in your uterus month after month puts you at risk for uterine cancer.

Yes!! I had a blood test done and it showed negative and the very next day I took another urine test and it was positive. The ultrasound would be a good idea.

I doubt it if both were negative and at 5 months. The ultrasound is just to see what is going on in there. Didn't your doctor explain any of this?
IF a missed period is your only symptom...no fever, no nausea, no vomiting, no breast tenderness, you aren't looking pregnant in the tummy area, no symptoms at all, then it's probably hormonal
or some other feminine issue. Maybe you have miscarried and need a DNC? Anything is possible.

At this point, they probably aren't checking to see if you are pregnant. There are a lot of simple medical problems that could be causing this. That is probably why they want the ultasound. Hope everything is okay!!!

Yes, you can be. Sometimes the level of hormone they are testing for is low enough that it does not show.
