Hello all,
I am so stressed. I am in the state of GA and sorta new here. I just moved in townhome complex which I am renting. I am sorta torn... I have been here since last saturday. On saturday night I saw 3 adult roaches, sunday 2 adult and 3 babies, Monday 2 adult and a few babies... This is so nasty. So Monday I called the office manager and she said that I could request the exterminators weekly.. I am like wow, if they even offer it that frequent then this must really be a huge issue here.
I have only seen a few alive since Tuesday. Like 1 or 2. But in addition. I have seen like 2 German Roaches... I saw another reg adult today. I am allergic to roaches and can get documentation to prove it. My daughter, 12 year old sister(whom lives with me) and myself are all asthmatics.
I need to move quick, is there a chance that I can get out of my least without paying a penalty. The office manager offered to have the place baited. Doesnt help if neighrbors arent trying to rid too.

It sometimes takes a few days to get them all but I use the "Combat" roach motels. They're very effective and long lasting.

German roaches can have sacks that pop every two to three weeks like cock work. Hit the place up with Whatever roach setup you want and give yourself and family approximately 3 hours away from the home to allow the chemical to fully set. Wait two weeks and start the process over again. After the second time then call your local insect terminator and have them hit the place. Once this process has started then you can have the place hit every 3 months. This is the only other alternative to tenting the residence. We were fully infested with german roaches and they kept breeding like crazy but I got some information on them and that was it, I have terminix hit us every 3 months and I have not seen one roach in the last year to include the summer when they are at their worst. Hope this helps, and if you have asthma then I suggest you act fast. Dont worry about the cost cause if your renting then guess where the money is coming from for the cost of sprays and terminix. You can beat them you just have to be patient and diligent.

With a documented allergy, and only if you were not told of the roaches before signing you can usually get out of it. You should immediately consult an attorney however for the laws that apply in your state.
When you do move, spray everything you take out of the apartment with roach killing spray. Even if no adults tag along you still need to worry about eggs that will hatch in the new place.

In my personal opinion, if you have a doctor's note, take it to your office manager as proof of your family's allergies. If that doesn' t work--get a lawyer or some type of free legal help.
Your last couple of sentences say it all. My previous apartment had a few roaches, but even more showed up when my new neighbors moved in.
If you have time in between moving places, be sure to "shake things out" or get rid of them since roaches love to hide!
Hope this helps.

I am sorry to tell you that roaches are here to stay. when you leave in a city you will see roaches and rats.
exterminator weekly could help. and you could put lots of roache motels all over the house/apartment, under the fridge and everywhere in the kitchen. under the bathroom cabinets. if you get a cat you will have very little problems with insects of any kind. some how they stay away.

As Im in Australia I dont know your laws but you should be able to break the lease and move if it is based on medical grounds as you say you have documentation to prove it but like wow what is causing this invasion? is their a lot of garbage [rubbish] around they like moist dark areas It has to be a total effort on everyone part to get rid of them and sad to say you will never get rid of everyone of the buggers youll always have to be on the alert we are invaded every summer i use a bottle that i put a large amount of vege oil in put lid on shake it all around so all sides are covered [oilve oil sitcks to sides] pour out excess and add a small bit of banana etc in the bottom they crawl in after the bait but cant get out due to the oily sides i then put the lid on throw the lot in the bin and start again hope this helps good luck

Did the exterminator come? He should treat the whole building. You can explain the situation to the office manager and see if you can get out of the lease.

Boric acid works well for roaches. You can pick it up at any garden store. IMPORTANT....dont squash roaches! They will leave eggs behind when you squish their bodies. Pick them up, and flush them!
