In your opinion why does it appear that American Christianity has become the love child of Capitalism, individualism and greed. I have purused the ghettos of Christian television and have become appalled at the heresy.

Prosperity Preachers like Creflo Dollar, Jamal Bryant, Keneth Hagin, Oral Roberts and Fred Price and etc depict God as a grand slot machine; If you tithe to the church GOD will bless you with a Benz, Bentley, new house, car and more bling bling.

It seems that the thesis of there message is that to have those things are a sign of divine blessings and favor. DOES THIS POP-CULTURAL MESS BOTHER ANYONE BUT ME??????

Does it even bother anyone that these beautiful celebraty preachers who dress like characters on soap operas are not even smart and do not have earned accredidated degrees? Can't congregants make a case to sue them for spiritual malpractice? I think the gospel that they preach is the equavelant of spiritual homocide. (murdering the spiritually weak)

I think you're over-thinking this. It is the same; religion is strictly marketing.
Has nothing to do with the best literature, best miracles, etc.........

You get the parents, even, you probably have the kiddies.

Next time I " puruse" the ghettos of Muslim extremism I will watch for men with long beards and tents for clothing and wonder what century I am in, then I will check out the "soap operas" to make sure it's 2007! But does this "Antiquated dress mode" bother me? No. What botheres me is the Blood lust and offer of Martyrdom for slaughtering Gods children all SOMEHOW in the name of "benevolent" "peacefull" religious beliefs of Islam. I much prefer "Bling Bling" And "Slot machines" then a thesis that instructs young children to kill the "infidels" Christianity is the belief in Jesus Christ who was and is and will be again! So you best look for teacher to bring you the word! And it doesn't matter what he is wearing, just so that he is able to bring the truth to those who will hear. Don't kill the messenger! Listen to the word! It isn't all about tithing, what if the preacher is greedy? He is not God and yu should not think he is incapable of sin! You are able to decipher the word so read it! Then you won't be deceived!

Yes, it really bothers me as well.

American christianity is a brand & religion minus the real relationship with Jesus Christ.

Everyone claims to be a christian but their lives reflect something opposite.

Dont get me wrong, I dont judge their mistakes. We are ALL unperfect in alot of ways! However, when we make a mistake, by the grace of God we get back on our feet again and we strive to be like Jesus.

Jesus was never rich. In fact, he wore a towel while wiping others dirty feet.
Why should we be rich??? Why should we live easy lives?

I definately believe God can bless us through material things, but that is not the only blessing a person can receive!

Blessings are health and happiness, a roof over your head, peace, friendship, family, etc.

Our true reward, is Christ.

Ignore tele-evangelists; they are not representative of Christianity. Watching a live church service on TV is another matter. You won't meet Christians that are perfect, but get to know some that are actually trying to live Christian lives.

Not many people know what capitalism is, but other forms of economic systems have failed badly and dramatically, and just about everyone that thinks is aware of that. Every society has some greedy people, but in a country where businesses compete and people are free, few get wealthy without contributing to our economy. And that raises our standard of living.
