I've been looking into plumbing noise causes, and I noticed the shower head actually sucks when I run bathwater. Why is that?

The force of the water running out the tub faucet is creating a vacuum on your shower faucet. (basic thermodynamics).
Sounds like the valve that directs the water to the overhead or lower faucet might be bad (not completely closing) these are typically a ball valve. it either needs replacing or adjusting...

Probably what is happening is that the inlet for your shower/spray is a "venturi" that creates a suction as the water flows past it. Kind of a vacuum pump using water to do it.

Id say nothing is wrong, mine does it too. I close that small valve on the spray and it quits.

Whoah, if it worries you, like call the plumber dude. My shower sucks too, maybe I should get it fixed.

This is a question for physics really, not home and garden.

To each action, equal and opposite reaction. Forces of nature.
