you know, that is a good question, I sometimes struggle with that one. If I don't know what I am talking about then I don't participate in the conversation or I just flat out say "I don't know". But on the other hand, If I know that I know what I am talking about I will argue with someone till I am blue in the face and then I will dig for all the info till I prove it to them. Some people are just loud mouths and have to be know-it-alls and be in control of the situation because they are very lonely people and need to get a rise out of someone. That's my opinion and what I have experienced.

Arrogance, not confidence, is due to a personality deficit. A person who has a low self image will attempt to boost that image by pretending to know more than they actually know. They are trying to prove to you and ultimately to themselves that they are worthy and useful. It is sad and annoying. The best way to deal with this is to ignore the person unless they exhibit positive behavior.

Maybe pretending they know everything gives them a sense of security. Or, it gives them a sense of control knowing that they can make others believe that they are smarter (even though people, such as yourself, see through it anyway).
All about self esteem.

Well. a lot of reasons there. Depends on the person; only child.. blah blah. They may also be very insecure and they feel they have to "right" all the time, because it kills them to admit they are wrong and don't know anything.

If you are a Gemini , you know the answer to that...
We are never wrong.we can convince others of our point of view even if wrong ( gift or curse , is up for you to decide).
When we know we are wrong, we learn more about the topic.
we never make the same mistake twice, except when it comes to presonal life.
we are willing to learn everything about anything and thus we know everything about anything.
" Jack of many trades is master of non"
thats us.

To deal with that kind of person, you have to act like him. You have to act like you know that you know more than him. Rebut everything he says, argue against him if he isn't sure if he is right. He will eventually get annoyed and shut up.

People that think they know everything are the worst! There's no telling them anything and they refuse to learn. The act like that because they don't know anything.

Generally because they either aren't very smart or they're very insecure and feel the need to prove themselves. Usually they're just stupid so they see the world very simply.
