Ok I will be polite, so i deserve some respect back from the lefties please?

I would like to know why Liberals would like to take away guns from us?
When are they going to realize that it is not the gun that causes murders, killings, and other things? THE GUN DOES NOT PULL ITS OWN TRIGGER.

This would be like banning our use of cars. It is not the cars fault people get run over it is the individual operating the car.
If you take a look at England, since the gun bans have been set, crime and robbery has skyrocketed! This makes the theives, criminals and robbers more determined to get the guns!

Uncle Ben, the question is why cant we? you are asking "why should we?"
what about target shooting? how about gun collectors? I agree but I dont think it was made to kill a mass amount of people in a short time.

Just keep your membership to the NRA up. I agree with you, but trying to convince a liberal that he's wrong is impossible. There brains are just wired funny. Logic, reasoning, and critical thinking are not things that they excel at.

The liberal left does not believe in individual responsibility, the want the government to take care of them. Owning a gun is a big responsibility. I at the present time own 7 rifles, 6 pistols, 9 revolvers, 8 shotguns and 2 muzzleloaders. I also own a compound bow and several knives. I pity the fool who wants to take them away. Without the Second Amendment, we would not have the first. The liberal left is sure to stand up and whine about their first amendment rights.....but they then want to do away with our second. I think that says EVERYTHING about the hypocritical lefties.

Remember folks, the first act of tyranny is to disarm the people.

Begin synopsis of part of the link

There's a psychological term "projection" where one makes assumptions about others based on perceptions about one's self.

If you believe you wouldn't be trustworthy with a firearm, why would you believe the "average" person would be trustworthy (since you are certainly above average, right)? Is the average person really more mature or responsible than yourself? Surely not!

End synopsis (there's much more in the article)

But liberals didn't always feel this way:

"Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of the citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be carefully used and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of the citizens to bear arms is just one guarantee against arbitrary government and one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible." - Senator Hubert H. Humphrey (1911-1978, D-MN), in "Know Your Lawmakers," Guns magazine, February 1960, p.6

If the liberals "win" on this, the next step may be to eliminate voting by the average individual, and then move on to the dictatorship Hubert Humphrey feared.

"If we accept the view that the American people cannot be trusted with the material objects necessary to defend their liberty, we will surely accept as well the view that the American people cannot be trusted with liberty itself. Why should a man who can't be trusted to refrain from murder be trusted with the much more difficult and morally subtle task of choosing his leaders responsibly?" - Alan Keyes, "The Armed Defense of Liberty," July 30, 1999

The origin of gun bans came in the 1930s. When mobs began to form, people thought that weapon bans could lessen the mob's violence. In the 1960s, after the assassination of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., laws on purchasing guns became more strict. Liberals think that banning guns would keep guns off the streets, though studies have shown that citizens with guns can keep the streets safer. Criminals will always find ways of getting guns and citizens carrying guns could keep them safer.

How do you think that guns are not dangerous admittedly they don't pull their own trigger.but put a gun in a halfwits hand and you are asking for trouble. To answer Wolfman does he live in a cave there is more crime in New Orleans alone than the UK and Aus so get your facts right.you say thieves and robbers will be more determined to get guns but if less are about they will be a lot harder to find.(Not from Canada mate and the hat stays on.)From what I read in the papers you lot pull guns on, and shoot each other if your undies are to tight.

I can tell you that guns will never be banned in this country. I know a lot of people like to get all bent out of shape cause of gun control laws also, but I don't see a problem. I am a gun owner and I couldn't care less about background checks and waiting periods. So what if you have to wait a few days to get a gun. I am pretty positive that guns will never be banned either. No one I know would ever surrender their weapons to the gov. Their would be civil war if our gov. tried to take our weapons. It is one our most basic rights. I just don't sweat it.

I,m not a lefty and I own guns, but I can't understand why anyone needs to have a weapon like an AK-47 that was designed for only one purpose, to kill massive amounts of people in a short time.

I'll try to be short ,as this is one of my pet peeves. The liberal left wants ALL your guns. Then it is much easier to control you as they would like.First the Nazis did it,then the British, then the Aussies. We know about the Nazis. Just look at the crime rates in the UK and Aus. today!

I am very active in Democratic politics, and I know of NO ONE that has guns on their agenda.

This is just another BS campaign put out by cons to scare people into voting for them.
