This truck has a 351 motor and i just replaced the alternator and the battery and the voltage regulator but now it wont crank unless it is jumped off. The gauge inside my truck is reading at 14volts when hooked to another car bit reading 11 after unhooking. I also tried unhooking the battery to see if my truck will keep running with alternator but it shuts off. I did have to rewire my wires from the voltage regulator to the alternator. Any ideas ???

fords are known to have ground troubles due to rust. and they will have corrosion problems because of that. on my father in laws ford the alternator wiring connector was full of green on all of the terminals. follow the wiring from the alt back to the reg and look for a connector, pop it apart and see if it's corroded. the only other thing that i can think of is a bad fusible link at the solenoid. hope this helps you fix it, good luck.

you're able to make valuable the pre-ameliorations are right. On a area notice, some situations a rebuilt carburetor is incorrect once you get it. It took countless ones for an older Ford six for me to get one that became into right. issues like needle valves that have been broken, cracked gasoline bowls and so on. So do not be so valuable that the replace area became into right. So double verify the choke putting (2 lean) and the idle mixture valve and throttle plate putting.

sounds like a dead or weak battery, it has to be fully charged before you do any testing :(
go buy a $30 battery charger, you can tell the condition by how it takes a charge and they come in real handy. try to get one with the start circuit

Sounds like a wiring error...recheck it to a wiring diagram, then it should work okay.

Go and buy a brand new good battery and try it. 11 volts is not enough for it to start or continue running. That is if your voltmeter is accurate.
